I apperently was missing some emails from the mod python lists, and
didn't see a 2.7.10 up to test.  I just went though and testing it and
gave grisha a +1, so hopefully it's out as stable soon.  Also req.status
was working correctly, and your proposed patch (always return apache.OK
and set req.status with the real status) should work without issue.
